Yes, 14 days, started from inside the app when you choose. When it ends you keep the free version, and nothing is locked behind a trial-expired wall.

Sign in to the billing portal at billing.stripe.com with the email you paid with (the link is in your licence email). You can cancel, change your card and download invoices there. Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for.

Nothing, by default. Better PDF processes everything locally on your device. Your PDFs never leave your machine unless you explicitly choose to export or share them, use your own key with the AI Assistant, or use Request Signatures to send one to someone else to sign. Request Signatures uploads the document you choose to send, plus the name and email address of each signer and the position of the fields you placed, so it can be hosted for them to view and sign.

Yes. Viewing, editing, signing, OCR, redaction, conversion and saving all run on your machine with no internet connection. Better PDF only goes online to check for updates, to send the anonymous daily usage count (which you can turn off under Help then About), and for features you choose: sending a document for signature and the AI Assistant with your own key.

One anonymous count a day, and nothing else: the app version, your operating system, and whether the copy is free or licensed. No documents, no file names, no account, no IP address stored, and nothing that identifies you or your machine. The install id is a random value made once on your machine and never derived from anything about you, so it cannot be matched back to a licence or a person. It tells us how many people actually use Better PDF and which versions to keep supporting. Turn it off any time under Help then About, and it is never sent while you are offline.

Yes. The Windows installer runs silently with /S, installs for every user with /allusers, and licenses the computer with /LICENSE=<key>, so nobody has to type a key. You can also push the key as a registry value from Group Policy, Intune or your RMM. The full commands are in the deployment guide at betterpdf.io/deploy.

Yes. The Edit Text tool lets you click any existing text and rewrite it, and it matches the original font style automatically. You can also add new text, fill forms, redact, and sign.

Yes. Tools > Recognize Text runs OCR over the whole document, or right click a page and choose Scan page for text. Image-only pages become searchable, selectable and editable, and the OCR runs on your own machine. It is included in the free version.

Yes, with Pro. File > Export > Excel Workbook turns each table into its own sheet, with amounts, percentages and dates as real numbers and dates you can add up and sort. File > Export > Word Document keeps paragraphs, headings, fonts, pictures, tables and columns. For a scanned PDF, run Recognize Text first.

Yes, free. Open the file with File > Open, drag it onto the window, or use File > Create PDF from File. It is converted by the Microsoft Office already on your computer or by LibreOffice, and opens as a new PDF tab.

Yes. Tools > Protect with Password encrypts the PDF with AES-256 when you save, and the same dialog removes a password you know. Batch processing (Pro) can protect or unprotect many files at once.

Yes. File > Compare with shows both side by side, with a Differences mode that tints changed areas and lists the text added and removed on each page.

Yes, natively, not through Wine or a container. Better PDF ships proper builds for Windows, for macOS (Apple silicon and Intel) and for Linux (AppImage and .deb).

Visual electronic signatures created in Better PDF are recognised in most jurisdictions for standard business use, similar to other e-signature tools. Certificate-based digital signing is also available today: sign with your own .p12 or .pfx certificate, or one Better PDF creates for you, and the signature verifies in any standards-compliant PDF reader. Signatures collected through Request Signatures are recognised for most business documents too: each one comes with a signing record, and the completed document carries a trusted timestamp so any change made to it afterwards is detectable. Some documents cannot be signed this way, including wills, powers of attorney, anything that legally needs a witness, and some deeds and court documents. Yes. Better PDF opens standard PDF (1.7 to 2.0) and PDF/A files made in any app, and saves standard PDF with no proprietary lock-in. When you need an archival copy, File > Save as PDF/A saves a PDF/A-2b file, the format courts, councils and archives ask for, with the fonts it needs embedded.
